Merry Christmas from the Song Family (CT)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all our beloved friends and family! Thanks to everyone for their wonderful holiday cards and updates...we especially love seeing all the latest pics.

We decided to ditch the traditional photo card this year and provide everyone with a bit more detail as to what we've been up to, and what our life has been like this past year on the East Coast. We loved reading the notes some of you included with your cards this year so we wanted to write a bit more too via this month by month photo journal.

We look forward to re-connecting face to face with as many of you as possible in 2009. Don't plan a trip to NYC without saving time for us in Fairfield, CT (1 hr train ride from the city)........Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Love,
Steve, Jinnie, Abigail and Joella

THE SONG LINEUP

This is Abby, she's now 2 1/2 years old. She started a 2's program this year at the local YMCA. She loves school and is very social.....and its actually starting to concern daddy. Anyways, here's her 1st school photo below. It makes mom and dad sad how quickly she's growing. Her hobbies include any arts and craft, music, dance, eating chicken nugget happy meals, and going to the beach. She has been a wonderful big sis so far and is extremely loving. Joey (lil sis) couldn't have asked for a better future bodyguard.
Our latest addition in 2008....Joella aka Joey. Joey was born in May this year, and is probably on the state register for being one of the few babies of Korean descent to be born in CT (just kidding but we wouldn't doubt if she places in the top 2). Joey is pretty big for her age....already wearing 12 month old clothes, and just like Jinnie and I did, we think Joey will outgrow the older sibling. She's such a good baby Jinnie is slowly being tricked into thinking a third child will be easy street......no way, Joey's an anomaly. Besides, what does she have to be mad/fussy about. She has loving parents, a roof over her head, own room, great sis, constant supply of clean diapers, and grade A hand me downs. Here's our lil angel....

Captain Jinnie Song. After battling it out for 3 tough years as an Army nurse in Korea, Jinnie is now master of casa de Song....she runs a tight ship from sun up until sun down, and is a natural when it comes to raising kids. I work odd hours so the bulk of the morning/daily/evening routine is up to her and she gets it done like a champ. This photo is at the beach one town over in Westport, home to the late great Paul Newman and where Martha Stewart got her gig going. Jinnie actually ran into Paul Newman one day while running errands...always remember "sometimes nothing can be a pretty cool hand......"

Steve: life could be a lot worse. I'm still gainfully employed trading equities at a hedge fund. But the industry I work in has been decimated this year, and there are tons of people including friends and ex-colleagues that are out of work. I guess times like these make you re-evaluate life and at the end of the day, I can't be more blessed to have my health, my family, my friends, my job and food on the table.....lots to be thankful for this holiday season. Here's me and the kids.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD, FAIRFIELD, CT

Fairfield, CT is on the coast of Long Island Sound and about an hour North East of NYC.

We live a few blocks from the beach and folks around here are great. Tons of young couples and its been easy to build a network of good friends. Our direct neighbors have 2 boys similar in age to our kids and that's been really nice/fun. The other two houses in front of us and across the ways is home to another 5 children.......we also live across the street from the elementary school yard which has its own playground. Nothing is better than having a huge yard right in front of our driveway, complete with baseball field, basketball courts, and a jungle gym w/ no maintenance required.........paradise. Here's a look across our driveway after the recent snowstorm.

Our Home.....we finally finished landscaping this year after moving in 2 1/2 years ago.

Another little know fact is that Fairfield CT was also home to the hit show 'Who's the Boss'. So I guess if this town was good enough for Tony Danza, Alyssa Milano, and that cougar grandma Mona, it's good enough for the Songs......

So enough with the intro...here's a quick month by month snapshot of our 2008.......

JANUARY: Mom's birthday. That candle has a three on it, u guess how old Jinnie is...

FEBRUARY: 2nd annual gentleman's mountain getaway. No wives, no kids, just some good friends from home, and the brothers at the top of the slopes in Park City, Utah.

MARCH: Kicking back at home...nothing special. Just avoiding the cold weather outside by enjoying some yogurt. What's a family room without an indoor tent for the kids?

APRIL: Abby turns 2 and does it in style with her friends at MyGym. In ur face MTV and Sweet 16 producers! I think there's a toy Bentley Continental GT lying around the floor somewhere

MAY: Joella is born. Here is Abby meeting her sis for the first time. I think she was asking whether she could take Joey home.

JUNE: Joey turns 1 month and is already challenging big sis's hair do.....

JULY: Landscaping still in progress but the pool is finally done....Abby took swimming class at the local YMCA and loves the water so we caved in and got the pool done. I always liked before and after shots so here it is......maybe next year, I'll upload before and after shots of my crooked bottom teeth being repaired.

AUGUST: Grandpa and Grandma Song visit Joey for the first time.....take a guess as to who she likes more.

SEPTEMBER: Payton Song is born to Bryan and Alice in Los Angeles. Yes, Bryan is all grown up now and has a kid. Pretty hardcore of him to name his first born after the greatest running back this world has ever known. But then again, that's what happens when ur born in Chicago. Very nice of Alice to agree. I guess the question now is if you have a second kid and its a boy...do you name him A) Urlacher B) Singletary or C) Obama.

OCTOBER: Trick or treat.....its always a treat when grandma/grandpa Chung visit but not when its near freezing at the pumpkin patch/petting zoo. It was warm for Halloween though and the kids loved it.....or at least Abby did.

NOVEMBER: Evan Lee (first pic) turns 1. Jinnie's younger sister, Hemmy, and her husband William celebrate Evan's birthday. OK so I guess it's a bit more MTV Sweet 16 than Abby's 2 yr party but hey, its how they roll. Evan is their first kid and shares the same name as my other nephew, Evan Song, born to Vic and Susanne (2nd pic @ the beach). Very popular name recently....our neighbor, Alex's younger bro, is also named Evan and was born this year.

DECEMBER: Merry Christmas! We wish everyone the best in 2009 and can't wait to see as many of you as possible in the upcoming year.

MERRY XMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
